According to Microsoft blog report, Microsoft Corp. has announced the five African novices it will innovation grants to provide financial support to cross the border and provides a new generation of developers and entrepreneurs in Africa. Grants are part of the company 4Afrika initiative, which was launched in February 2013 to facility the company’s active participation in the economic development of Africa in order to improve its global competitiveness.
Last year, Microsoft has extended Microsoft 4Afrika ventures partnership in Africa, with a startup accelerator 88mph as its first partner. 4Afrika through the initiative, Microsoft is now Extending its support to include grants for beginners, selecting five for beginners as the first set of recipients. The novice was chosen based on uniqueness and scalability of their solutions, their business models and the deployment of the main problems they have relevance. A solution has developed a program for beginners are relevant to the consumer and the African market, ranging from agriculture, education and consumer (gaming).
In addition to grants, Microsoft will provide technical support and mentorship to help under these beginners to develop their business through the company’s center of excellence.
